About Guthrie
Want to be able to play along with any song in any key?
Want to learn some music theory, but not sure where to start?
I love to talk about music without making it seem like some complicated mystery. With a bit of basic ear training and noticing common songwriting patterns, I can help you understand any song in a simple way.
I've worked with students from age 5-50. I teach piano, guitar, and bass, and it's a blast watching students discover their sound.
I love learning new songs from students, and the satisfaction they get from playing something that's been stuck in their head is always contageous.

I like to start with a song the student wants to learn, and jump into learning it by ear as quickly as possible.
If a student wants to learn a song that's more advanced, I can always simplify or break down songs to find some easy patterns and shapes that anyone can understand and remember how to play.
