About the lesson

The first step is an interview with the student and the parent(s) is the student is a child. We go through the layout of the piano, hand position and other basic information. I tell them about the materials we will be using and review my studio policies. If they enroll in lessons we already have a head start on the basics.

From the students who really didn't want to take piano lessons to the students who thrived on competition and performance.

I tailor lessons to the musical interest of the student. Of course the basics of note reading, rhythm and theory are important for any genre of music. I believe piano lessons should be fun.

My end of the school year recital in May, 2016. It was fun, the students did well and parents were proud and pleased.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Am I willing to commit to regular practice?

What kind of music do I want to be able to play?

What are my goals in playing the piano? e.g. play in jazz band, play for my own enjoyment, perform for others, etc.
