About Victoria

With significant experience in teaching piano to people from ages 4-40+, as well as various levels, I am ready to meet each student where they are at, whether starting new or returning after a break. I truly believe that the piano is very accessible, regardless of what you may have been told in the past. I am here to help you find ways to learn and practice that work for you!

I have a passion for connecting personally with each student. I believe in the wonderful value of each individual and want to help each student fall in love with music. I love seeing growth and communicating enthusiasm for piano!

I have a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance and have completed all coursework for my Master's degree in Music Therapy. I have completed classes in teaching piano to individuals and groups, teaching music to elementary-aged children, and teaching various other instruments. I have also taken a significant amount of classes on psychology and human development, which I believe help me be a better teacher. I have taught private piano lessons since 2016 to children and adults of various ages and levels. I also taught group piano classes at a college as a Graduate Assistant for two years. In 2017 I completed a two-month cross-cultural internship in Zambia where I taught music to college students, as well as private piano lessons. In addition, I have worked in other educational roles, such as being a music theory tutor for college students and working with outreach and programs at a children's museum as an education assistant.

About the lesson

I like to get to know the student on a personal level, find out their likes and dislikes. I also make sure to help the student feel comfortable with me. Depending on the age and level of the student we may talk through what kind of music they love, what kind of music they want to play, and why they are wanting to take lessons. I am able to recommend piano books for student purchase and we are on our way!

I have taught children, the youngest being four. I have taught teenagers and adults, as well. I have had complete beginners, as well as transfer students. Some students learned better by ear and some read music better. I try and find ways that work for each individual.
