About Ghazal
Born and raised in Iran, Ghazal Karimpour began her musical education at age six with piano lessons. She received classical and pop music lessons until the age of twenty, when she was accepted to one of the most prestigious contemporary and jazz schools of music in the US, Berklee College of Music. Throughout college, Ghazal participated in many music performances, and wrote numerous music pieces. At Berklee, Ghazal studied piano, guitar and voice performance, theory and technique with well-established musicians such as Neil Olmstead and Vuk Kulenovic. Majored in music therapy, Ghazal worked with various age groups and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
After moving to California, along with continuing her education, Ghazal started her career as a piano teacher for children and adults ages four and above. Her past experience granted Ghazal the ability to establish a strong working alliance with her students and as a result improved her work with her students during music lessons. Ghazal is specialized in working with children and her piano sessions are both educational and joyful for the youth.
Currently, Ghazal is completing her graduate degree in psychology and pursues her life long passion of working with young individuals.
Initially I started my work when I received requests for piano lessons from people who had seen my work.
I have been planing piano for more than 26 years and have my degree in music from Berklee College of Music.

I offer a free consultation session in order to meet my students and assess their level of proficiency. I believe the first session gives my student a chance to evaluate my work and decide if we are a good match.
I worked with chirldren as young as 4, in addition to begginer adults.
Make sure you find a teacher that you enjoy working with because learning piano is enjoyable but can be challenging and and working with a teacher that you don't like raises your chances of quiting prematurely.
It's always great to see the positive impact of my work, but also it's great to receive feedback from my past students and hear from them when we are not working together anymore. I recently received an email from a former student's parent who I had to end lessons with due to moving away from that area. She shared that they had a very positive experience and wanted to stay in touch and if possible request piano lessons for their other daughter who is 3 years-old and would only accept to get piano lessons from me J
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
- What is your past experience of learning music?
- How commited are you and if you recieved lessons before how often did you practice?
- What are your expectations of your piano teacher and the outcome of piano lessons?
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Ghazal is a wonderful piano teacher! She is very patient, knowledgeable, and kind. My kids really loved taking piano lessons with Ghazal and were always looking forward to seeing her. My kids fell in love with music thank to Ghazal.
Ghazal was my daughter's piano teacher for over at age 5/6. Ghazal is very skilled with guiding young learners in a gentle yet effective manner. She is engaging and kind. She is able to create a connection that helps the child develop excitement and interest in learning. In short, she is amazing. We would still have her if she was teaching in our area. :-( In fact, my younger daughter has refused to take piano lessons unless it is from Ghazal!!
