About Mary
I have been singing as long as I can remember: when my small-town church started a children’s choir, I was the first to sign up. My parents asked me in 2nd grade if I wanted to take piano lessons and I jumped in with both feet and have never looked back. My first experience playing piano for anyone was at church when I was in 6th Grade. During my school years, I continued to expand my role of music leadership and accompanying worship services.
While attending college, I volunteered as a choir director and accompanist for worship at a rural church and taught piano lessons to beginning students. As a seminary student, I continued to offer beginning piano and added voice lessons; this tradition continued throughout my career as a full-time church musician.
As Director of Music, it was my honor and joy to coach and prepare individuals and groups to lead worship each week by using the gifts and talents God had given them and we worked to develop in honor of Him. These persons came from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities and it was a joy to see them learn and grow as a person and as a musician. It has been proven in multiple studies that musicians are smarter, more well-rounded and live a better life…not to mention how you will be serenaded as they practice!
I look forward to the opportunity to work together with you to partner for success as we make beautiful music together.
