About Carol

I have been a Teacher for twenty-four years. I love teaching. This profession gives me a great sense of commitment to the students I teach. For thirteen years, I have been a Teacher and a Tutor of Spanish Language and Spanish Literature to High School students as well as night classes for Adults. For two years I taught and tutored World Affairs to High School Students as well. I have also tutored in Homework Help, Academic Reading and Academic Writing.

I have a Master of Arts Degree in Education with an emphasis in Multicultural Education (California State University, Dominguez Hills) I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish and Social Science (University of the West Indies, Jamaica), A valid California Teaching Credential (Single Subject).

Tutoring students is a very fulfilling job for me. I always enjoy students' success. My goal is always to nurture students' ability to the fullest both academically and emotionally.

I started teaching after I graduated from Teachers' College.

I have advanced credential training in Spanish Language and Spanish Literature with Social Science with an emphasis in Social Studies. I have a valid California credential.

About the lesson

My typical process for working with a new student is to first get to know their strengths and weaknesses in the subject area. This can be done by giving them a basic quiz to determine what they already know since in many cases students come to tutoring classes with some already known information.

K-12 students

Look for a teacher who is experienced in his or her area of expertise as well as one who will encourage focus and good study skills.

An event I am fond of is Cinco de Mayo.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out

I think they should think about how they need to move from what they already know to how they can build on their known knowledge to improve their total knowledge for overrall success.
