About Olivia

Hola ! I am an experienced language instructor offering tutoring in Spanish (Latin American Spanish).

I earned a graduate degree in Latin American Languages and Literatures, have a lot of experience tutoring individual students in Spanish, and was also a Language Instructor at various colleges campuses for over a decade. I earned a B.A. from UC Berkeley (double major in Spanish & Portuguese and Latin American Studies), and a Master's Degree in Latin American Studies from Stanford University. I also completed all PhD coursework in Hispanic Languages & Literatures at UCLA. I taught undergraduate Spanish for several years in graduate school and, after completing all PhD coursework, taught Spanish at several community colleges and Cal State. I really enjoy working with learners and seeing them progress!

I live in the San Gabriel Valley and work full-time in the social services field; I interact with Spanish -speaking clients daily. I was born & raised in California, but was fortunate to be raised in a bi-lingual household so, in addition to my formal college learning, I also absorbed it at home. I've had many extended stays in Mexico (and in Spain too!).
