About Dejza

I am a recent George Mason University graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Foreign Languages, Spanish Concentration. Upon graduating, I received the "Excellence in the Spanish Major" award. I began speaking spanish eleven years ago, and am highly proficient.

I spent four months studying at La Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in Getafe, Spain, where 3 out of 4 courses were taught completely in Spanish, and where I used the language every day to live and interact in Madrid. I have also more recently spent some time interpreting for Spanish-speaking patients at local health clinics. Prior to that experience, I served as a research assistant to a linguistic study for which I analyzed Argentine news sources.

Now that I have graduated, I am looking to tutor students in the Northern Virginia area in Spanish. I currently have evening and weekend availability. Please feel free to review my qualifications and connect with me on Linkedin.

(concealed information)

I began tutoring in high school when helping my younger cousins out with their school assignments and projects.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I like to understand their reason for learning the language, and the goal that they wish to set for themself. I also like to have a copy of their school syllabus or curriculum if applicable. With the information above, I can tailor my lessons to their needs.

I have worked with students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should try differentiate between concerns of memory and concerns of comprehension. Both are important to gaining a true understanding of any material, but the first step is to identify whether the problem you are encountering is due to lack of retention or lack of conceptual understanding. The way in which those obstacles are overcome are different, so we must know what we are dealing with in order to successfully learn the material.
