Movements in “Birthing Life” T’ai-Chi are birthed from the core of the body and move outward through the arms and legs. As the martial artist lets go of control and yields to spontaneous flow, chi releases into powerful blocks, strikes, and kicks. In feeling and style, Birthing Life movements express organically like an ocean wave rippling through the body. By intending the direction and sensing the intricacies of the flow of chi, T'ai-Chi serves as an effective and enjoyable meditation for bringing consciousness to life.

In our classes participants will learn simple exercises to feel movement through the body and help chi flow outward from the core. We will show how this movement can express into martial applications and how the practice supports inner awareness and personal transformation.

I am excited to help students find ways to connect with their inner strength and discover ways of moving and being in the world that are fresh and supportive. Some students have been attending classes for over 10 years.

I started studying T'ai-Chi with Robert Larsen in 1994 who studied with Professor Cheng Man-Ching in New York during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Professor Cheng is most attributed to bringing T'ai-Chi to the United States. I complement my T'ai-Chi study with wildlife tracking and hold a Level III track and sign certificate from Cybertracker International. I also recently attended two Art of Mentoring intensives with 8 Shields in California on building connected communities.

About the lesson

We encourage anyone interested to start in a series of classes for new students that begins in April or September. The classes remain open for about a month for new students to try for $10. The current class open for new students is Mondays at 6:30 pm at 1725 Grand Avenue in St. Paul.

Students at the school represent a wide range of ages and backgrounds.

Details

We encourage new students to sign up for three months of the beginning class for $200. After the first 3 months the class continues for $75 per month dues and students can attend any of the classes on the schedule.
