About Greg
We teach with depth and many exercerises to give people a tangible results both in movement and energy development. After teaching long forms, I found that people were focused so much on the choreograpy that they did not develop the internal energies. We teach a 13 movement form that allows students to learn the choreography and body mechanics in only 8 weeks. Also we ensure that students learn more than just a form. Students experiment with different alignments and energy flows and see how results differ with the approaches. So students really internalize skills than simply follow movements.

Often students will come to a free introduction that gives an overview of t'ai chi so they can begin to understand the scope and flavor of t'ai chi. We'll talk a bit about their goals and background. Some people are very interested in the healing aspects and others the martial aspects of t'ai chi. In any case we try to meet students where they are and can work with injuries.
I have worked with all kinds of students. Here are two examples to illustrate the differences. One was an ex-military guy who had very extensive and disciplined martial arts background. He got healthier and saw the power internal martial arts offer. Another is an older man who suffered two strokes. I worked with him privately for a few months. One day his wife came to the lesson with him and cried as she told me they had danced for the first time in years together the previous day. She could tell what a difference the t'ai chi made in their lives.
Ask to feel the teacher move energy and if they have martial experience. Often teachers only have nice choreography but do not have or teach the deeper aspects of the art. If you can feel them move energy, that is a good sign. Also the martial aspect of t'ai chi is not sold separately from the health aspect. This need not be full contact sparring; but students must do some 2 person experimentation to really get any depth of skill. There is a nice article about that here (concealed information)

Details
You can purchase a membership to our regular classes which occur on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. That rate varies by length of membership. Private lessons are $80 per lesson or save $50 by buying a pack of 5 for $350. Also private lessons can be shared with another person at no additional cost. This is excellent as you can both split the cost and have a practice partner.
