Benjamin is an enthusiastic and hard-working student. He shows a strong commitment to his learning and is a pleasure to teach.
Perfect! Amanda wasted no time honing in on where we needed to work on in the writing process and for me, this was the beginning. With her many years of TA experience (helping all levels of undergraduate), she quickly adapts and transitions through lessons to fill in gaps of knowledge when they appear - and this is so important. She will not follow her own agenda, but focuses on your needs at that moment. Her methodology and wonderful manner have been so successful for me and my writing, that I now see her every week (and sometimes twice!)
Bridget is an enthusiastic and motivated student. Relatively new to academic research, she worked really hard to learn how to construct well researched and well-written papers. Her years of practical experience in her field really helped her to bring her own voice to her writing and to make compelling and interesting arguments. It is a privilege to be able to work with Bridget and see her develop into an adept researcher.
Amanda is a thoughtful, helpful and patient professor. She is knowledgeable about what she teaches and creates a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable to ask questions, create dialogue and learn to the best of their ability. Amanda is flexible and creative in her assignments and content, which makes learning more enjoyable and catered to the students' unique interests and strengths. Overall, Amanda is very approachable and I would enthusiastically enroll in another one of her classes. I would highly recommend her and believe she could be helpful in supporting me through many areas my studies.
I had the pleasure of taking The Politics of Food with Professor Shankland at Carleton University in my fourth year. I sincerely enjoyed the class. Each week the class explored different themes including: animal rights, genetically modified organism, accessibility to food, etc. I particularly appreciated her ability to draw connections between these themes each week which was evident in her facilitation of a class discussion following the lecture each week. I would definitely recommend Prof. Shankland as a tutor as her patience when explaining complex material would help any student achieve their academic goals!
Amanda is a fantastic individual and IS one of the best teachers who is genuinely there for student success.. She helps students by going above and beyond in order to ensure everyone meets and exceeds standards. When you have Amanda, you will quickly learn her passion for helping students be better writers, more critical researchers and more scholarly researchers, is second to none. Her research on climate change adaptation in terms of food policy, is as interesting as it is rigorous. With an affinity for teaching, Amanda shares her passion with students and makes it hard not to do well. Highly reccomended.
