About Joy
I have taught, coached, and worked with students ages first grade through college age. In college I was an undergraduate teaching assistant for vertebrate biology. Currently, I teach lower and middle school science to several different grades, covering a wide variety of topics. Outside of my main role as a science educator, I strive to teach students effective time management skills, personal responsibility with their schoolwork, executive functioning skills, and emphasize the importance of developing effective study skills early in their learning.

My teaching lessons include in-depth content knowledge, many visual and hands-on teaching approaches, helpful methods to remember information, chunking material into manageable sections, strong and positive communication, and effective study skills. I believe students should also be supplemented with time management skills and habits, as well as developing a strong sense of self confidence in their schoolwork.
