About Harvey

I am a passionate Saxophone tutor with 20+ years of teaching experience and have successfully taught around 150 students at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. I enjoy working with students of different ages and backgrounds, helping them build confidence and musical skill through structured and engaging lessons.

My teaching approach is flexible and student-focused. I adapt lessons based on each student’s learning style, goals, and pace. I believe that clear explanations, regular practice, and positive encouragement are essential for steady progress.

Lessons focus on developing strong saxophone fundamentals such as breathing techniques, embouchure control, tone production, finger coordination, and rhythm accuracy. As students progress, I introduce musical expression, articulation, phrasing, and basic improvisation skills.

Along with saxophone instruction, I also teach music theory, sight-reading, and ear training to support complete musicianship. My goal is to help students enjoy learning the saxophone while developing skills that support long-term musical growth.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology for Saxophone is centered on Communication, Accountability, and Integrity to help students grow as confident and skilled musicians. I begin with posture, breath control, embouchure development, and tone production.

I clearly explain each concept and demonstrate proper techniques so students know how to practice effectively. Lessons include scales, articulation drills, rhythm exercises, and performance pieces to improve both technical skill and musicality.

Weekly structured goals and practice routines maintain accountability and consistent progress. I provide honest feedback to guide improvement. Integrity ensures students develop correct habits and long-term growth. In addition to Saxophone, I also teach Music Theory, Ear Training, Sight Reading, and Improvisation fundamentals.
