About Tatiana

Born in Russia, I am a native Russian speaker and PhD candidate in Russian and Slavic Studies at McGill University, with over 16 years of experience teaching Russian to students of all ages and proficiency levels. From opera singers and engineers to business professionals and language enthusiasts, I help my students transform their Russian skills, speak with greater confidence and fluency, and develop a deeper understanding of Russian culture through personalized, creative, and engaging lessons.

About the lesson

My teaching method is based on a creative, personalized approach tailored to each student. Drawing on my background in theatre, I use drama techniques to help students expand their vocabulary, develop spontaneous speech, and improve their pronunciation and fluency.
I believe that learning grammar should be more than memorizing rules—it should be a passionate exploration of language, culture, and the deeper meanings behind words. Together, we will discover the richness of Russian and perhaps even unravel a little of the mystery of the Russian soul!

Tatiana was my Russian teacher at Mcgill university and she was a fantastic and generous teacher. She also was a great help with Russian diction for my classical vocal music career. Thanks to her I can read and write the Cyrillic alphabet and have built very good knowledge of the Russian language. Thanks to her I love Russian!
