About Blessing

Hi all, I'm Blessing! I have recently just finished my degree in French and Hispanic Studies at the University of Warwick and I am now preparing to travel under the British Council scheme to France to teach students English! I wish I could say that I've always been passionate about languages and so I naturally excelled at school, but that is far from the truth! When I was at school, I struggled tremendously with language learning and I actually hated my French lessons more than anything. It wasn't until I was I had a really dedicated and kind teacher in year 10 who opened my eyes to the beauty of learning languages that I actually started to improve my results, but most importantly, I started enjoying my lessons. My goal is to continue her legacy and show you how learning languages can be fun by delivering content in an engaging well and hopefully help you reach all your language learning goals - whatever they might be!

About the lesson

At the start of each 50-minute lesson, we'll start with a warm-up activity, which might be a game in your chosen language or just a recap of the previous lesson and going back over the vocabulary or grammar points we looked at. Then we'll do 2 different activities for the main part of the lesson, usually a reading or translation exercise and some grammar. To finish, we'll do a quick recap of the lesson and go over any new vocabulary we've learnt and I'll check if you've got any questions or if there's anything specific you would like to cover in the next lesson. Depending on the needs of the student and their goals in learning French, I might also assign a short activity to complete before the next lesson to make sure what is actively being learnt in the lessons is also consolidated outside of class.

Ultimately, my sessions will be structured around what the student wants to do; whether that be building on vocabulary, grammar, improving reading/listening comprehension or even just learning how to structure a good essay - whatever you're finding tricky, I want to help!
