About Caroline
I know what it's like to sit with a text or an argument and just not get it yet — to feel like everyone else has clicked with something that still feels out of reach to you. I've been there myself, and I remember exactly what kind of help actually made the difference: someone willing to slow down, explain it a different way, and not make me feel behind for asking.
That's the tutor I want to be.
I studied BA Politics, International Relations & Philosophy at Royal Holloway, University of London, graduating with a First, and I've just completed an MA in Law. But more than the qualifications, what drives me is a genuine love of Philosophy and English — the kind of subjects where a single question can unravel into a dozen more, and where learning to argue well changes how you think about everything else. I want to pass that on, not just as exam skills, but as a way of engaging with ideas that I hope stays with my students long after their A-Levels.
If you're finding a concept difficult, or an essay just won't come together — that's exactly where I want to start.

My Approach:
I teach A-Level Philosophy and English the way I was trained to think during my own degree: start from the text or argument, break it down, then rebuild it rigorously. In Philosophy, that means unpicking arguments premise by premise, testing counterarguments, and writing with precision. In English, the same discipline applies to literary analysis: close reading first, then structured argument, then a conclusion that goes beyond summary. Across both subjects, I focus on the skill examiners reward most — constructing a clear, evidenced, persuasive argument on paper.
Lesson Length:
Lessons run for 60 minutes — enough time to properly work through a text, argument, or essay plan without rushing.
My Background:
I hold a First Class BA in Politics, International Relations & Philosophy, and I've just completed an MA in Law. My academic background is built entirely around argumentation, critical analysis, and written expression — the core skills both A-Level Philosophy and English demand. I bring genuine subject mastery in both areas and a real enthusiasm for teaching students to think and write with clarity.
Who This Is For:
I tutor A-Level Philosophy and English students (Years 12–13, ages 16–18) who want to strengthen essay technique, analytical thinking, or exam confidence.
