About Stefan

I'm Stefan, a full-time Biology and Chemistry tutor with over 12 years' experience helping students build confidence, understand challenging topics and prepare for exams. I hold a First Class MSci in Pharmacology from University College London and have delivered more than 1,000 hours of online tuition.

Before becoming a full-time tutor, I worked in scientific research at UCL, Yale University and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. This experience helps me explain how the science students learn connects to real research, from the brain and medicines to genetics and cancer.

My approach is patient, friendly and encouraging. I adapt lessons to each student's starting point and pace, making space for questions and breaking difficult ideas into manageable steps. Whether you are rebuilding confidence, aiming for a higher grade or extending your interest in Biology, I will help you develop both subject understanding and effective exam technique.

About the lesson

Biology becomes much more manageable when you understand how the ideas fit together. My lessons combine clear explanations, diagrams and active questioning with focused exam practice, helping you move beyond memorising facts to applying your knowledge confidently.

I teach GCSE and IGCSE Biology, A-Level Biology and IB Biology at Standard and Higher Level. I support UK and international students studying AQA, Edexcel, OCR and Cambridge International courses, and can also help with Biology Olympiad preparation.

We begin with your goals, exam board and the topics you find most difficult. Lessons are tailored to you: we may break down a process using an annotated diagram, work through an unfamiliar data question or practise structuring answers using exam command words and mark schemes. Past papers help us identify gaps and turn understanding into marks.

Online lessons use an interactive whiteboard such as Bitpaper so we can work through explanations and questions together. I offer a free 30-minute introductory session to discuss your needs and plan the next steps.

Please send your course, exam board, year group and the areas you would most like help with when enquiring.
