Learning to differentiate tones is the most crucial element to understanding Mandarin. By focusing on tones and Pinyin first, my students find it easier to grasp the contents in my lessons. My teaching methods start at the basic level and depending on the student's pace and learning style, I will be able to incorporate whatever I find fitting to benefit the student the most. Each lesson, I review the content from the last lesson and go through anything that is confusing for the student. I like to create a positive and more friendly environment than a teacher-based to make my students feel comfortable. Please feel free to address me as your friend who is teaching you Mandarin!
I am studying towards a Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto, and my program is Public Health. In my free time, I love to bake, play the flute and the piano, and I was a competitive dancer.
I grew up bilingual, speaking both English and Chinese fluently. I spent a few years in China studying and learning how to write Chinese. I have taught 4 students already. In our first lesson, we can preview content and lesson plans that I have made and see if it suits your learning style!
