About Dougie

I'm an undergraduate student at Clare College, Cambridge, with a passion for linguistics, that I can wholeheartedly bring to lessons. I got eleven 9s at GCSE, including in English Language, Spanish, and German, 4 A*s at A-level, and a first in my first-year exams at university, where I am studying maths, as well as winning a gold medal at the 2024 International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics. I am an avid learner and can bring a breadth of knowledge to enrich the linguistic content. I set up and ran the Linguistics Club at my sixth form college of 5000 students, so I have experience teaching the subject for the UKLO!

About the lesson

Fun and engaging linguistics tutoring for any level or target, whether you're going for gold in the Olympiad, or just looking to improve at a niche subject you enjoy. Sessions will be varied mixtures of content, past questions, and the ability to explore the exciting features of language by making one yourself! And of course, I'll focus on whichever you prefer. I twice achieved gold in the first round of the UK Linguistics Olympiad, and distinction in the second, placing 13th nationally, so I know the paper!

In the classroom, Dougie would often help to provide clarity to students if they'd not quite grasped a concept in the way a teacher had taught.
