About Natsumi

I have two years of experience working as a kindergarten teacher, supporting children who could not speak Japanese. Through this experience, I developed strong skills in communicating clearly and patiently with learners who are new to the language.

In addition, I majored in Japanese language teacher training and have one year of experience as a Japanese language teacher, with over 400 hours of teaching experience. I have taught students ranging from teenagers to adults, with many of my students being complete beginners. Beginners are very welcome.

For child learners, it is helpful if they are able to recognize or read hiragana, or are ready to begin learning hiragana.

Although English is not my native language, I conduct lessons while providing explanations in English to support understanding. My lessons are often described as fun, engaging, and meaningful, and I always aim to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable and motivated.

About the lesson

In my lessons, I focus on practical communication and personalized learning for each student. I believe that learning Japanese should be enjoyable, effective, and immediately useful in real-life situations.

My teaching style is student-centered. I flexibly adjust lesson content based on each student’s goals, level, and learning style. Lessons are mainly conducted using screen sharing with a textbook, and I incorporate a balanced mix of conversation practice, listening, vocabulary building, and clear grammar explanations.
Although English is not my native language and I am not fully fluent, I do provide explanations in English when needed to support understanding.

Each lesson begins with a review of the previous lesson, followed by learning new vocabulary and grammar. Depending on the student’s level, I prepare review worksheets and visual materials to reinforce learning.
Next, we practice speaking through real-life situations, such as daily conversations, travel, or work-related scenarios, to help students develop natural speaking skills. I actively encourage students to speak as much as possible to build confidence.

My strengths as a tutor are my patient and careful teaching style and my flexibility in creating enjoyable and meaningful lessons that match each student’s learning pace. I focus not only on correct Japanese, but also on natural expressions and cultural context, helping students speak with confidence.

My lessons are suitable for complete beginners to intermediate learners. They are especially recommended for students who want to improve conversation skills, travel Japanese, or everyday communication. Learners of all ages are welcome to study Japanese in a relaxed and friendly environment.
