• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  I am Kochuthresia Shibi, My subject is Malayalam. This is my mother tongue. Basically I am a trained teacher and I understand that many people especially, the people from Kerala and India and the foreigners also would like to learn this wonderful language, I wish to help them to learn in an easy way.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  Those are the parents of my former students. I mentioned here that I am a teacher. I started my teaching career in 2013. I gave my best training for students, especially the children, those who are very weak in their studies. I gave special attention to them and helped them to read and write in my style. That was a very successful attempt and almost all the children learned to read and write without any help from others. Now I resigned from my job at the school because of some health issues, the parents of those children thanking me for this whenever I meet them.

• How does your work help society?

  I am still continuing my mission. I hope I can help the new learners through this platform and they will get a clear picture about our custom, culture and the beauty of my land through my classes.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  This is my aim to help all those who like to learn my language because I am proud of myself that I am a Malayalee.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  My hobby is cooking, especially South Indian dishes. It is my passion.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  Yes, my student Mr. Sivram, basically he is a Malayalee. But he was born in North India and now settled in Singapore. He told me that he would like to learn Malayalam from his childhood. But he didn't get any chance. He told me that he is so happy that now he can communicate, read and write within a short time period. You can refer to his review in my profile.
