About Yan

I'm a former Division 1 tennis player and full-time coach based in Chicago with over 1,000 hours of coaching logged in the past year alone. I work with players of all levels - from complete beginners picking up a racket for the first time to competitive players preparing for tournaments.

My coaching is built around one thing: real, visible improvement. I focus on fundamentals, footwork, and match-ready technique - not just hitting balls back and forth. Every session has a purpose.

I've worked with 100+ students across Chicago, coaching outdoors at Grant Park and Skinner Park. I have 25+ five-star reviews on PlayYourCourt and Thumbtack, and my students consistently come back season after season - which I'm most proud of.

About the lesson

My lessons are fully personalized based on each player's level, goals, and learning style - beginners building fundamentals, recreational players improving consistency, and competitive players focused on match performance.

A typical session covers technical work (strokes, footwork, serve), situational drills, and live point play. I focus on the details most coaches overlook - timing, spacing, shot selection, and decision-making under pressure.

Sessions are available in 1hr, 1.5hr, and 2hr formats at Grant Park and Skinner Park. Training packages are available for students committed to long-term improvement.

Dahne is a really hardworking student and always brings a great attitude to the court. She has a natural touch and feel for the ball, which makes her game fun to watch and gives her a strong base to build on. There are still a few areas we’ll keep working on, like consistency and movement, but that’s all part of the process. She’s improving steadily and putting in the effort, which is what matters most.
