About Cory
I began my first career as an attorney working for a general practice law firm on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. I decided to change careers to teaching in 2005 because of my passion for working with students and my inherent interest in knowledge.
I have taught all grades of English several times.

My methodology is to teach the skill/lesson first and then apply it to real life situations.
I place a strong focus on essay writing. I have found that Ontario teachers do not prepare their students to write a clear, organized and well-researched essay.
I also focus on reading comprehension. Many students 'read' by moving their eyes to go over the words, but no meaning is retained. I teach how every word in a reading passage is important.
Finally, I stress critical thinking over memorization. With modern technology facts are always at the tip of your fingers. However, how to analyze that information is not taught. I use the learned material to foster critical thinking.
