About

Hi, I’m Lorenzo — I’m passionate about learning, and I’ve always enjoyed helping others understand things in a simpler, clearer way. I’ve recently completed A-levels in Maths, Physics, and Biology, and I’m preparing to start university in October. Tutoring is something I’m excited to grow into as a way to genuinely make a difference for students who might be struggling or want to push further.

I know from experience that school can sometimes feel overwhelming or confusing, especially when things aren’t explained in a way that clicks. My goal is to be the kind of tutor I would’ve wanted — patient, logical, and focused on helping you understand the *why* behind each step, not just memorise the *what*.

Whether you’re aiming for top grades or just want to feel more confident in lessons, I’m here to help however I can.

*My Approach to Tutoring*

I understand that every student learns differently. I believe the best way to help a student understand something depends on the individual — but I believe a more hands-on, interactive approach tends to work best. I focus on helping students develop the right way to think about questions logically, especially in STEM subjects, rather than just memorising one-size-fits-all methods they’re often taught in school. The goal is to build real understanding and flexible problem-solving skills.

In a typical lesson, I’d start by asking the student what they’re specifically struggling with in a topic I already know they find difficult or that they’re currently working on. Then I’d walk them through how I’d approach it step by step.

Back when I was in school, I used a method I found really effective — especially for maths and science: reverse engineering. That means starting from the end of the question and working backwards to figure out where to begin and how the parts connect. I’ve found this way of thinking helped move me from just getting by to actually understanding what’s going on. It provides a more logical, structured way to approach unfamiliar questions.

When I explain tricky topics, I break example questions down step by step, showing how each part leads to the next — and how I “knew” to do each one, using that reverse-based problem-solving mindset. Then I’d get them to try a few similar questions on their own, helping correct any mistakes and pointing out any small details they might have missed.

To finish, I’d ask them to walk me through a question they got right — that way, I can make sure they’re thinking in the right way, not just copying a method. Over time, this builds stronger problem-solving skills, more independence, and confidence when tackling different kinds of questions.

My lessons are typically around 1 hour long, which I find works well for most students. That said, I’m happy to adjust depending on the student’s age and focus — younger students, for example, might benefit more from shorter, more focused sessions.

I studied up to A-level and completed Maths, Physics, and Biology. I’m currently preparing to start university in October to continue my studies, and I’m excited to tutor alongside that. While I’m new to tutoring professionally, I have a strong subject foundation and a genuine passion for helping others understand and succeed in these areas.

My lessons are for students working at GCSE level or below, including Key Stage 3, Key Stage 2, and even primary school if needed. Whether a student is struggling, looking to boost their confidence, or just wants extra support alongside school, I’m happy to help.
