Fourth Year Medical Student offering lessons on UKCAT, Personal statement and Medical School Interviews

About Hamza

I am a fourth year medical student at the University of Leicester. I have experience in helping students with their personal statement as well as preparing for the UCAT. I have prior experience in preparing students for the 11+ as well as GCSE Maths, Biology and Chemistry. Having done the 11+ myself, I am well aware of the demands required for it as well as the requirements of doing well at GCSE.

About the lesson

My first task with any student wishing to apply to medical school is to find out which medical schools they intend to apply to. From there, I help the student by tailoring my help to their chosen schools. Some schools prefer a stronger interview performance and certain characteristics whereas others prefer a stronger personal statement. This is reflected in how my teaching is organised.
In regards to personal statement advice, I ask the student to send me a draft of their personal statement after every lesson. Between lessons, I will then analyse this and go through any changes with the student in the next lesson. I am more than willing to do this for as long as the student wishes to.
UKCAT preparation is done by giving the student sample questions to do. We then go through the answers together. From this, I can see which topics the student is stronger in and which we need to work on. I also place a lot of emphasis on the Situational Judgement part of the UKCAT as universities often place a lot of significance on this.

My son was failing his a level before Hamza began tutoring him. We have found Hamza to be a knowledgeable, patient and professional tutor. He identified weak areas , revised them with my son and then moved forward with the syllabus so that my son is now actually ahead of his class at school. We couldn’t have asked for a better teacher to complement and supplement his work at school. During this very demanding year of Covid he has been a light in a very depressing tunnel. From failing in January , with just two lessons and week , my son has progressed to a grade A . We are really appreciative and thankful and want to recommend him wholeheartedly over other tutors on superprof ! Have not one negative or critical thing to say . He’s great !

Hamza is one of the most patient tutors I've ever met! I really struggled to understand my GCSE Bio work and he took his time to explain all the parts I struggled with. He also took me through a list of topics and I got to pick what I wanted to study. and the things I already knew, he got questions for me to refresh my knowledge! He takes his time to explain properly, sharing his own experiences and most of all, listening so carefully to everything I have to say. He gives brilliant advice for future career options too and websites I can go to see where I can go with the grades I'll get.
