About Isabelle

Dear Prospective Pupil:

I promise to use humor during our lessons. If you are stuck, I will try to explain the same concept in different ways ... depending on that day's inspiration. For example, I have been known to explain emails and websites by comparing the internet and the world of paranormal activity!

Thanks to 3 years of experience in 1on1 and small class French teacher for Berlitz (mainly), I am ready to build bridges of knowledge with all students, regardless of their age and background. My experience surely made Harvard Business School comfortable enough for me to teach their MBA students.

My high school and undergrad degrees are from top French schools, specialized in Sciences: Maths, Physics, Chemistry to a level that's equivalent to having a Bachelor's Degree in each. With a high GRE score, I specialized in Civil and Structural Engineering as well as Architecture at the Master's level. I also got a 740 score on the GMAT test, for which I developed study techniques to get over hang-ups.

When I send you the initial rate it is to offer you my experience, knowledge, attention, and mental agility working with materials, problems and scope you provide. In some instances, depending on student learning styles, focus, goals and timeline, customization could be required rather than the standard format above. In this case, I may need to scope out special research and planning at additional cost or explore a different arrangement to work within the limitations. Sometimes, I may not be the best fit, and if you are open to direct communication, I am happy to share my findings based on my experience along with advice to find and recruit the replacement tutor. If you are aware of personal challenges ahead of time (learning, behavioral, emotional...), it's best to share upfront to get the most accurate rate and avoid surprises after a relationship has been established that could disrupt efficient building towards the goal.

Initial session: assessment of current state, review of goals, sample teaching and homework
Next session: check retention and follow up on homework, finish early to make a plan for the following sessions to have a map.
Extra research, tools, or materials may be advisable and may come at an extra cost depending on the details of the situation.
