About Bobbie
I've been tutoring and teaching French since 2013. I've been a certificated teacher in a public high school since 2017. I have a Bachelor's degree in French Language and Literature from Portland State University ('15) and a Master's degree in Teaching from the University of Portland ('17). I currently reside in the Seattle area with my mixed terrier, Benji. In addition to my regular attendance at world language conferences and trainings, I've been specifically trained in the International Baccalaureate program and have tested students in French B since 2019.

Lessons are always tailored to the student's goals, interests, and learning style. Typical lessons combine traditional grammatical study with interpersonal activities. Individual needs determine the specific methods used. Students appreciate my flexibility and honesty. I aim to help students relax and enjoy themselves as they discover the French language and culture. I have a somewhat quirky sense of humor and am by no means anything like the snobby stereotype so often associated with the French language. Most of my experience has been with those in the novice to intermediate levels of French. Therefore, my lessons are best for those looking to either start fresh from the beginning or expand into mid or upper-intermediate communication. (As a reference, individuals at the intermediate level are conversational in everyday situations, able to write letters, understand French spoken at a moderate speed, and read non-technical articles.)
