About Héloïse

My name is Héloïse (pronounced /əloiz/), I am 22 years old and my pronouns are she/her. I am originally from South West France (Agen) and I am currently on an exchange program at UVic for the 2025-2026 winter session. In my home university (Toulouse Jean Jaurès), I am an undergraduate in third year majoring in English. I graduated middle school and high school with high honors, being a straight-A student in English. Passionate about learning languages, I have always dreamed of teaching mine to a foreign audience. I am patient, empathetic and adaptive, as well as a good listener, which I believe are required qualities for teachers/tutors.

About the lesson

- Native French speaker teaching natural-sounding French.
- Previous experiences with tutoring.
- Can provide additional methodology and support (visual aids) if needed for grammar, syntax, pronunciation...
- Can apply neurodivergent-friendly methods if necessary.

Secondary/High School, University students:
After getting to know the student and assessing their academic level in French, a typical lesson starts with reviewing the tasks they have to complete for the day or the week, whether it be homework, assignments or studying for exams. We go over their main concerns together and I advise them on the best ways to improve their proficiency.

Adult/Extracurricular learners:
Following a short mutual introduction, we will focus on the student’s principal motive for taking French classes (business, tourism, permanent residency, relationship ties…) whose content will go according to it. My role as a tutor is to give out the keys to progress and confidence.
