About Luci

In the past I worked in private and state educational institutions from grammar schools to sixth form and further education colleges teaching English Language and Literature. As a tutor, teacher and Head of English I supported a broad range of students to enable them to reach their potential in English. This included devising approaches to study for student managing dyslexia and Aspergers. My expertise comes from years of clarifying the demands of the GCSE, IGCSE and A Level specifications for English from AQA, Pearson Edexcel, Eduqas, OCR and CIE, as well as IB. Having been a Personal Tutor at a sixth form college I am able to help students construct UCAS personal statements including Oxbridge applications. Current DSB Qualifications: University of Southampton - BA Hons English [First Class] University of Surrey - PGCE TEFL (Trinity) - English as a Second Language

About the lesson

Relaxed and interactive lessons which build on the student's strengths to tackle exam techniques and develop writing and analytical skills with confidence. Set texts are broken down to assist with understanding. Also, using extracts and past questions are used to build technical knowledge and explanations. Lessons are based on past exam papers and mark schemes to encourage students to understand texts and refine their skills. Also, model exam responses are used to assist with structuring essays. The aims of the lessons are for them to be enjoyable and to de-mystify the demands of the English exams. :)
