Over 20-25 years, I have worked as a professional software engineer for projects ranging from defense research (careful and formal engineering) to fast-paced startup coding applying "bleeding edge" methodologies.
My professional experience is supplemented by the important theoretical knowledge gained while earning my Master's degree in Computer Science.

I love teaching programming for people at all levels, from student to professional. If we work together, we will drill down to really understand how things work and why they work that way.
We will walk through problems together so that I can gain an understanding of where you are already at, while you are gaining knowledge in your desired area of study.
I believe that hands-on experience is key and that many concepts cannot be well understood unless a student tries things, makes mistakes and puts in the time. I will help guide you to those mistakes and work through them with you at the gradual pace that will really cement the lesson.
If, instead of applied programming, your interest lies in academic aspects of Computer Science, I will reach back to the days when I earned my Masters degree in Computer Science and we can go over things on a more theoretical level. I am happy to help you understand coursework on subjects ranging from algorithms and hardware to higher level subjects like networking, encryption, or alternative language paradigms.
