About Holly

I am a kind, patient and enthusiastic Maths and Physics tutor with five years of experience in tutoring. I am currently in my second year at Durham University studying Maths and Physics.

In my five years of tutoring, I spent the first two years helping students between the ages of 4 and 16 improve their confidence and understanding in 1-2-1 and group settings. In the last three years, I have focused mainly on tutoring GCSE and A-level Maths and Physics students online and have been able to help my students achieve/exceed their target grades and improve their knowledge and passion for the subject! I have also completed a teacher training internship during my degree that gave me further experience in helping students with their understanding of the subjects. Being a tutor for the last five years and only completing my exams recently, I am familiar with all exam boards and have access to great resources for my lessons.

About the lesson

I believe that every student is unique and everyone learns in different ways. During your time with me, I will work to find what learning style suits you best so that I can tailor my lessons to your needs. During the initial free meeting, we will discuss your targets to ensure that the work set is helping you achieve your goals. I believe practice is a vital part of learning so throughout our lessons we will spend time consolidating your knowledge using exam-style questions to improve your confidence and understanding of the subject. This will be followed by practice questions for you to complete at home to ensure that you are confident about the topic before we move on.

My main priority is ensuring that you are improving your understanding and confidence in the subject. That's why questions are encouraged and regular discussions will take place to identify areas you feel require more attention. We will end the sessions reflecting on what we felt went well and what we believe we still need to work/focus on to ensure that you can deepen your understanding of the subject. I also offer exam preparation lessons where we can concentrate on exam-style questions/papers in preparation for exams.
