About Liya
Hi I’m Liya, and I’m a passionate cellist with 9 years of playing experience and a genuine love for music. I have achieved Grade 6 and currently perform with my university classical ensemble, where I play challenging repertoire at a high standard. (8+ to diploma level)
I understand that learning an instrument can feel difficult at times, especially in the early stages, as I was once a beginner who nearly gave up myself. Because of that, I aim to create lessons that are patient, encouraging and enjoyable, helping students build confidence as well as technique.
My teaching style is supportive and tailored to each individual, whether you are picking up the cello for the first time or working towards grades. I focus on creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and progressing at their own pace.
I welcome learners of all ages and would love to help you begin or continue your cello journey.

I provide affordable and accessible online cello tuition tailored to each student’s level, with a supportive and patient approach. Lessons focus on building strong foundations through posture, bow hold, fingering technique, scales, rhythm work and enjoyable pieces, while adapting to each learner’s pace and goals. Sessions are typically 30 minutes to 1 hour. I have played the cello for 9 years, achieved Grade 6, and I currently perform with my university classical ensemble on advanced repertoire. Lessons are ideal for beginners through to Grade 5, and suitable for all ages looking to learn and enjoy music.

Details
I offer mostly flexible availability, with most lessons available in the evenings to suit school, university or work schedules. Online lessons are my preferred option, as they are convenient and still allow for high-quality teaching and progress. For students located nearby, I am also happy to arrange in-person lessons either at your home or with travel to me, depending on what is most suitable. In-person sessions can be especially useful for exam preparation and refining technique. Travel for in-person lessons starts from +£15, although this may vary depending on distance and location.
