About Spencer
Swimming rewards consistency. You cannot force a stroke to become natural simply by trying harder; sometimes you need to slow down, understand the movement, and build it correctly. That lesson has stayed with me throughout my own swimming journey and strongly influences how I coach. I bring experience from competitive swimming and endurance training, but I also bring the perspective of someone who understands that improvement looks different for everyone. I work patiently with beginners who may feel uncertain in the water and challenge experienced swimmers who are ready to refine their technique or push their performance further. I watch closely, explain clearly, demonstrate practically, and give swimmers time to process what they're learning. Whether we're working on a single stroke, overall efficiency, endurance, or preparation for an event, I want the session to feel purposeful rather than overwhelming. My greatest satisfaction comes when confidence begins replacing hesitation and swimming starts feeling natural.

The lesson begins with preparation rather than pressure. We warm up, loosen into the water, and briefly revisit what you learned previously. I then watch your stroke and select the most useful skill to work on that day. We might focus on breathing, balance, body position, propulsion, coordination, or improving the efficiency of a particular stroke. I demonstrate the movement and then guide you through a series of drills, beginning with simple repetitions before gradually increasing the complexity. Once the technique starts to click, we move into complete swimming and test whether you can maintain the improvement over greater distance. For beginners, this might mean progressing from short confident swims toward continuous lengths; for experienced swimmers, it could mean developing stronger pacing, endurance, or race technique. We finish with recovery, feedback, and a practical goal for your next session. Progress happens naturally because each step prepares you for the next.
