From a University Instructor General English/Essay Writing Training: Literary Analysis, Persuasive, Compare Contrast, Academic Papers

Methodology

Duration : 4 weeks, 2 lessons per week - Price : $27.00 - Place : TorontoI am a university lecturer with 18 years of experience teaching Academic English (essay writing, reading, presentations skills, literature; short stories, novels and creative writing) at English Preparatory and Freshman English lessons in university context. I am a holder of two masters degrees; in Applied Linguistics and ELT from University of Nottingham and an MBA. I provide assistance in academic, essay, creative writing, reading and oral skills.

In this training course I create custom tailored lessons based on my students' goals, expectations, pace and learning styles. We practice different types of essay focusing on academic essay writing skills: structure, using sources and citation techniques, analysis and evaluation of ideas.

Some of the essay types we study are literary analysis essay, persuasive essay, comparison essay, academic essays/ research papers. Finding one's own voice in academic writing, practicing the higher skills of analysis and evaluation of ideas, creating a thesis and an argument are the central building blocks of my lessons.

In our classes my students write two or more drafts for the specific essay types based on the feedback received on given papers.
