About William
Math has always been more than a subject I study in school. A lot of my life revolves around it; I catch myself turning everyday situations into problems and looking for patterns in my daily habits. At one point, I even tried treating my own life like a math problem: breaking down wellbeing and health as if there were some formula I could solve.
Obviously, life doesn't quite work like an equation, but that probably explains why I enjoy math so much. I like the process of being given something I don't immediately understand and slowly working my way towards an answer.
I'm 17 and currently studying Math, Physics and Chemistry in Year 13. I've tutored younger students before, and I want to pass on the way I approach math: with curiosity, patience, and a willingness to keep trying when the answer isn't obvious.

I don’t want students to be afraid of getting math wrong. My TEDx talk was shaped around the idea that mistakes are the only original things we make, and that same idea inspires how I teach. Instead of immediately correcting an answer, I want students to understand their misconceptions; because that’s where the most useful learning happens.
I’m 17 and currently in Year 13, so I’m much closer in age to the students I teach than a traditional tutor. I’ve tutored younger students before, and I try to make lessons feel like working through a problem with someone who understands your thought process, rather than sitting through another mundane class after school.
I teach students from those just entering secondary school through to GCSE, whether they want to build confidence, stop falling behind, or push themselves towards the highest grades in their curriculum. I achieved an A* in GCSE Math, an A in Further Math, multiple internal UKMT Gold awards, and represented my school in math competitions.
Lessons are usually one hour, but the way we spend that hour depends entirely on the student, because I know from experience students studying the same subjects can view it completely differently in their mind.
