About Xoan

I graduated in 2023 from the University of Cambridge with a Double First Class degree in English and in 2024 from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama with a Master’s degree in Acting. Prior to attending Cambridge, I recieved A*A*A in English, Drama and Music A Levels. My enthusiastic and decisive support enables students to develop their critical and creative faculties, elevating their academic voice and essay-writing skills as fundamental to good argument, top grades and academic self-expression. Having worked with students across the AQA, Edexcel, Eduqas and OCR curricula at GCSE and A-Level, I have helped students in achieving top grades and adapt quickly to the unique strengths, requirements and learning styles of every student.

About the lesson

Each lesson I teach is dependent on the unique requirements and requests of the student, identified through ongoing evaluation of their strengths and areas of improvement. Having worked across the AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Eduqas and iGCSE exam boards, I have an in-depth understanding of the unique requirements of each and have taught many of the set texts to the highest standard.

I combine a rigorous understanding of the mark scheme with an approach that incentivises the development and articulation of each student’s perspective and interests. This approach ensures that each lesson provides both a framework for immediate improvement in grades within a given exam board and a wider development of each student’s ability to express themselves with clarity and confidence.

Over the past 2 years, I have helped many students achieve top grades on the 8/9 and A/A* boundaries through detailed support in essay-planning, critical analysis and revision techniques. I have also had the opportunity to help other students over the passmark and have supported multiple students with SEN exam adjustments.
