About George
As an academically focused student taking four A- levels (Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry), and who has received several awards (merits, silvers and golds) in various olympiads, helping others achieve their academic goals is a natural choice for me.
As well as doing well academically, I am used to helping others succeed at school, for example, by organising study sessions, explaining difficult homework assignments to others and tutoring my sister in GCSE maths. As such, I not only understand my subjects, but am used to helping others understand them too.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading non- fiction books, run cross country and debate competitively as hobbies, and am eligible to compete regionally in both debate and cross country.

It is my belief that it is nearly impossible to understand a subject without being motivated to learn it, and it is nearly impossible to be motivated without enjoying it.
As a tutor, I will instill my own passion for maths or physics in my pupil, by demonstrating how the concept they are learning links up with, and is used in the real world.
Speaking from experience of tutoring my sister in GCSE maths and running A-level revision sessions, I can confidently say that practice is absolutely key to memory retention, so after explaining a concept and linking it to a concrete example, I will test my pupil's knowledge using example questions, before setting marked homework on the topic to consolidate learning in class.
Lessons can be online or in person, dependant on transport time and the preferences of the student, and will be roughly an hour in length, although this is highly flexible and dependant on the student.
I am happy to tutor any GCSE level students in maths and physics, as well as to help year 12 students prepare for olympiads or admissions tests in the same subjects.
The saying "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime" sums up my ethos as a tutor; as well as helping my student understand the syllabus, I will make learning it enjoyable and interesting, and help my student develop a true motivation to learn.
