About Elyse
As a student myself, I've learned the importance of a good role model and mentor. Especially in content-heavy subjects such as Math or English, I found that having good examples showed me how important it was to understand the path to success from an outside perspective. As a tutor, I hope to be this mentor for students and help them on their paths to success and show that although math always has one answer, there are many ways and perspectives to get there.

As a tutor, I find it crucial to create a strong relationship with my students. Creating a relationship helps not only gain trust with your kids, but also to give them a space to not be afraid to ask questions and seek help. With hundreds of hours of experience working with elementary to middle school-aged kids, I've learned that communication is crucial when working with children and that creating a relationship helps them to gain trust in their mentors. In my lessons, I will use this communication and trust to help your child with their math skills and teach them to persevere if they face difficulty. I will teach them how to learn from past mistakes and how to avoid those mistakes in future assessments. I will help them to understand what success looks like in mathematics and what steps are needed to get there.
