About Mike

Hello! I am a Civil Engineering graduate from Aklan State University with a dedicated background in tutoring students from Grade 1 through Senior High School. My goal as a tutor is to create an encouraging, approachable, and fun learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and growing. My Teaching Approach:
Engaging Starts: I begin sessions with relevant jokes, quotes, or fun openers to build rapport and relax the student.
Interactive Assessment: I use quick recitations and diagnostic checks to understand what students already know before diving deep into the lesson.
Structured Progression: I prepare structured lessons, modules, and handouts in advance, guiding students step-by-step from core basics to complex problem-solving.
Open Communication: I value feedback and continuously adapt my lesson plans to suit each student's individual pace and goals. My work experience includes peer Educator (Buruanga National High School), where I mentored fellow students and facilitated peer-to-peer educational programs to support academic and personal growth.
Catechist (Flores de Mayo): Prepared and delivered instructional lessons and values education to young learners during the seasonal community program.
Academic Tutor: Provided targeted instruction in Mathematics and related technical subjects to college students, improving their conceptual understanding and test scores.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I usually approach with gentleness, humor, and understanding. I always start my classes with interesting quotes, phrases, or jokes related to my subject somehow, in order for my students to connect with me. Then after that short introduction, I follow up with a little assessment, a recitation, or open knowledge where they can write what they already know about the topic. After that, I will start my class properly, then a little quiz for learning. As for the lesson plan, it may depend on my students' needs, but usually my preparation for my lesson plan ranges from basics to difficult. I prepare it in the evening, review, and practice the lessons. I also give modules and handouts to my students about our topics so that they can review them before and after class. Usually, my students range from grade 1 to senior high school.
