About Shana

Hi there, my name is Shana! It's great to meet you (virtually at least)! I just turned 29 years old and have made the move back to California after living in the UK for the past couple of years where I launched my own consulting company! I actually grew up in Southern California where I went to Troy High School. Here, I took 15 AP classes and received a 2300/2400 on my SAT. I then went to UC Berkeley from 2012-2016, where I double majored in both Biology and French Literature. You could say that I loved studying and had a variety of different interests! After graduating, I started working for a healthcare consulting company where I soon realized that no matter how booksmart a person is, what matters tenfold professionally is how one is able to forge connections with different people and being able to present oneself well through resumes, interviews, or through your own website. I then decided to form my own consulting firm where I help people start their own small businesses, giving guidance on everything from managing their recruitment funnel, to their fiscal projections, to managing teams and overseeing a functional office space. Because my work is fully remote now. and my team is able to handle a lot of projects, I've found myself with quite a bit more free time than I'm used to! Along with spending time with family and friends, I want to give back my knowledge I've accrued to those who are younger than me and want to be successful later in life but perhaps need a little bit of help, or some extra guidance, along the way. There's so much I wish I could tell my younger self now if I could :) Hopefully, if I can help someone achieve their own goals it will all be worth it!

About the lesson

When I was in school, I had no idea what to expect from the future -- all I knew is that to further my education I needed to excel in my classes and extracurriculars and get into a great university. What I wish I also was taught alongside my classes is the ability to form strong connections with my teachers and professors, build a strong network base, and be a great public speaker and connect with an audience. My teaching method will be to address both the hard and soft skills needed to be successful not just in school but later on in the workforce as well, as well as a tailored approach to you, and how you learn best :) I find that teaching is a two-way street and I'm eager to have a brief discovery chat with you to see what your goals are, how we can accomplish them together, and what other advice you need to excel further in your future!
