About Qasim
From a young age, I have enjoyed helping people, especially when they need to know how something works, I love explaining different concepts in depth and sharing knowledge. Every student has the ability to put hard work and effort towards achieving greatness, and has the right to be given the opportunity to succeed. I want to train students to think structurally, analytically and rationally.

My way of teaching is that I pinpoint misconceptions and address them very clearly. A lot of times when I see students answer questions, mistakes made involve using the correct method, but then making an incorrect step within that causes everything after to go wrong. I would counter this by repeating the same type of question but just altering the parameters involved, for example, solving a two step equation, I would model a very simple example like 2x+3=9, walk through the steps then give the students an example very similar, like 4x+6=22, where they apply the same steps again. I can alter the level of variation in questions depending on the student’s capabilities, so if I model one example, the follow up example I give would be more different if the student is more able, and more closely resembling if they need extra support. When it’s a new concept, I use real life examples to help visualise and contextualise, for example A level Maths, where in the concept of pulleys, I first explain what a pulley is, how it works and then a real life example. Then I would walk through examples, explaining all the necessary vocabulary and key words to look out for and how they affect the calculations. I want my students to have a very deep understanding of the topic first, then go on to practise repetitively to strengthen the understanding of the process behind each topic e.g. for Newton’s 2nd law, I expect my students to be able to draw the problem first, draw the forces and then use the drawings to build equations.
