About Mary
I have been teaching private lessons for 20 years. I have a degree in music education, and several years' classroom teaching experience. I also play a wide variety of instruments and have a good deal of performance experience.
Aside from teaching music -- I have 2 kids, 2 cats, and I also freelance as an audiobook narrator. I have two literary master's degrees and have taught English literature in contexts from middle school up through college. I've also taught ESL and theater.

I'm here to meet you where you are with your level of technique, whether you're a beginner or have been studying for years (or are brushing up after time away). If you're just having fun, I'm happy to take a relaxed pace; or if you take your music seriously and have big goals, I'm absolutely ready to dig into the details and help you achieve them! I'm patient, positive, and great at breaking down difficult passages or techniques and providing just the right exercise or series of simple steps to make your progress feel steady and rewarding.
