About Barnaby
I'm a professional actor, playwright and producer with over half a decade's experience in the industry. I trained at one of the top 5 Drama schools in the country, upon graduating I signed with United Agents.
Since then, I've worked a recurring role in Netflix's The A-list, the RSC, and most recently, a leading part in the feature film by Oscar Winner Theo Green.
I specialise in self tapes, drama school auditions and Shakespeare, having been taught under George Peck and Sir Gregory Doran - I've ran several Shakespeare workshops both nationally and internationally.
As a playwright, I've staged 3 plays to critical acclaim in London and produced the 5 Star smash hit, The Name, by Nobel-Prize Winner Jon Fosse. Alongside this, I was the literary associate for the Olivier Award Winning Marylebone Theatre, where I established and ran their writers group.

I tailor sessions to the individual rather than relying on a single method, drawing from Meisner, Chekov, Demidov and other practitioners.
Our work will focus on remaining present whilst executing choices; the choices come from the elements of you that are alive in the character. The authentic you is more interesting than character, so that is always the starting point.
In this sense, when you speak, it should sound like you, not an idea of a character. Casting directors and drama school panels want to see the true you; the thing you bring to this role that no-one else could.
We begin with text/scene work, asking; what is going on in the scene? Then, what would you do in this moment? How would you respond? We repeat, delve deeper, physically and psychologically map it out, then let it go and put the focus on breath, presence and receiving the felt stakes of the scene.
I take a strong interest in the psychological side of performance, helping actors work through nerves, self-consciousness, stage fright and creative blocks. I have various techniques which move you from a place of self observation and monitoring, to freedom and spontaneity.
I'm particularly experienced with self tapes and can help from set up to scene execution.
For drama school auditions, I like to be involved at all stages - picking speeches, working on them throughout, right up to walking in the audition room.
Beginners and experienced actors are equally welcome.
I generally recommend 90-minute sessions, as they allow enough time to explore the work in depth, though one-hour sessions are also available.
