About Po-Lin

Hello! My name is Po, and I am a qualified music teacher with a PGCE in Music from Manchester Metropolitan University and QTS status, bringing recent, relevant classroom experience alongside my work as a private tutor. I am also a Classical Piano Performance graduate from Leeds Conservatoire, with a strong background in solo performance, ensemble work, and professional accompaniment.

With over four years of experience teaching one-to-one piano and music theory, both in-person and online, I specialise in helping students achieve their goals—whether that’s developing performance skills, preparing for ABRSM/Trinity exams, or building a solid understanding of music theory. My lessons are designed to be fun, structured, and efficient, ensuring students stay motivated while progressing towards their musical ambitions.

I have worked with pupils of all ages, from young beginners as young as four to adult learners in their seventies, and I tailor every lesson to meet individual needs. In addition to teaching, I am DBS checked and available as an accompanist for ABRSM or Trinity exam entries.

What I can offer:
1-to-1 Theory Lessons – In person or online, Grades 1–5
1-to-1 Piano Lessons – In person, up to Grade 8
Accompaniment Services – For ABRSM/Trinity exams

If you’re looking for an enthusiastic, supportive, and professional tutor to help you achieve your musical goals, I would love to work with you!

About the lesson

I adapt my teaching style to each student, as everyone has different learning styles and abilities. Depending on what the student wants to learn, I aim to provide a fun, efficient learning experience to help students move towards their goals; whether it be passing a graded exam or learn their favourite song from a movie.

Depending on the students level of playing, I would typically offer 30 minute lessons for beginners, 45 min for grade 1-4/5, and 1 hour for grade 5-8.

First Class Honours in Classical (Performance)
Enhanced DBS check
2 years experience teaching piano and theory (MusicLab and Roundhay Music)
Available to teach all ages.
Fluent in Cantonese and English
