About Kayleigh

I have always enjoyed mentoring and teaching and have been involved in this since I was in high school. I believe that adolescents and young adults are the future and that all student's should have a safe place where they can expand their learning. There are no "stupid questions" in my sessions and I want all of my student's to feel they are in a non-judgemental environment where they can discover their potential.

I have a particular interest in widening participation, encouraging individuals from non-academic or disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue careers in medicine and science.

About the lesson

I am an aspiring doctor, currently studying Graduate Entry Medicine at the University of Nottingham in my penultimate year. I received a First Class Honours degree in Biomedical Science at undergraduate level before starting my current degree. I worked as a healthcare assistant with the NHS between these degrees so also hold a lot of clinical experience within this area. I have mentoring and tutoring experience in both GCSE and A level years and have a passion to encourage student's from all backgrounds to reach their potential and life aspirations.

My lesson's usually last an hour at a time as I feel this allows for maximum engagement to gain as much as possible from the session. In terms of my lesson plan, I will aim to cater this to the individual and utilise what works for them. However I do follow a general plan including a warm up discussion/video, learning materials to gain a deeper understanding, practice questions and past papers to ensure my students can retain the knowledge and apply this under exam conditions.

I currently offer GCSE Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and A Level Biology. I am also happy to discuss sessions which provide guidance on University applications and entrance exams such as UKCAT and GAMSAT and pre-GCSE level students.

I offer a free, 30 minute session to allow you to meet me and figure out if my teaching style is appropriate for your needs and goals.
A level tutoring is at a higher rate of £25.
I have a busy university schedule and allocate specific times each week to online tutoring, I ask that you provide me with 24 hours notice if you need to cancel and will endeavour to do the same in return. I understand that emergencies happen, so please don't feel worried if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, we can discuss this together and work out a more appropriate time!
