About Charlotte

Bonjour ! I am a native French speaker who studied Law in France and in Ireland. I have been living in Ireland for three years now and I am about to start studying Biomedical Science in Sligo.

I love learning languages, and I am very comfortable with both French and English. Having been taught English at school, I am used to the way languages are taught. In most cases, it is not a way that makes you want to learn.
I do believe chatting and interacting is the best way to learn a language, because it is how I learnt English: by speaking, making mistakes, listening and interacting with people. This would be the approach I would take to teach you French.

I love French and I love to help people, I believe I can really help anyone that wants to learn French if you give me the chance. French is not only about spelling and writing, so even if you have spelling issues, chatting is probably one of the most efficient way to learn French.

What can we work on?

Depending on your level, there is a variety of things we can address:
- Everyday French and useful vocabulary
- Conversation and speaking with confidence
- Grammar and sentence structure
- Spelling and writing
- Understanding spoken and writtenFrench
- Pronunciation
- Preparing for real-life conversations
- Any specific goal you have :)

About the lesson

French is much closer to English than you could think, and I think learning French is about having fun and realise that it is possible and not out of reach. You will learn concrete things and not long lists of vocabulary… The key is to be confident, you can do this. Everyone can.

What would my lessons look like?

There is no pressure, everything will be adapted to your level and you objectives. A mistake is not a big deal, it is just an opportunity to learn. Whether you are beginning to speak French or not, you can improve! If you are a beginner, we can build solid foundations and progress step by step. If you are more advanced, we can interact to try to identity mistakes or difficulties and address them, little by little. If you are proficient, we can improve your vocabulary and fluency by exchanging in French. It takes time, but it get easier with time.

I'm happy to teach in French or English depending on your level and preference. I offer lessons online, at my home in Sligo, or locally for a small additional travel fee.
