About Peadar
I am a graduate student in physics at the University of Arizona. I am studying Physics Education Research, and focusing on ways to maximize learning in introductory physics courses (but I am still highly qualified for math classes as well!).
What inspires me to pursue this field is from being in your shoes not that long ago. Though I ended up pursuing it in college, math and physics were not my best subjects in middle or high school. I remember struggling through the quadratic formula for weeks before it started to make sense. I had to put in a good deal of effort in order to truly learn a lot of the material in middle and high school math classes. It was through these struggles that I learned what it takes to help others be successful as well.
I am confident that we can work together in order to help you succeed in all of your math and physics courses!

I believe that the best way to learn math or physics, is by practicing it. As such, much of my teaching style revolves around the student working on practice problems, with guidance from myself.
For example, suppose a student is learning how to factor polynomials. Then my lesson would consist of an example or two from myself, followed by several examples done by the student. When I am demonstrating examples, I work at a pace similar to what I expect the student to be working at, and thinking aloud as I expect the student to be thinking. I then reinforce the strategies I demonstrate when the student is working through examples.
This method has proven useful. Last spring, for example, students that worked with me in an introductory physics course scored a full letter grade above the class average on every test.
My lessons are for all students of all backgrounds and all levels. I can teach any math or physics class in middle school, high school, or college. I can work remotely, if you prefer virtual tutoring, or we can meet somewhere if you prefer in-person tutoring.
