About Valerie
My natural flair for music has helped me greatly throughout my many years of being a music teacher. In my experience, the art of teaching is not just about having the right musical knowledge or expertise but it is also about how well you can communicate it. To that end, I am committed to helping each and every one of my students, no matter what age, in their musical journey, keeping their needs and learning abilities in mind.
I have my own preferred way of teaching music, but remain open and adaptable to other styles of teaching if required. Additionally, I am quite adept at coming up with creative methods to train musical skills such as ear training and chord recognition. I always ensure that the student(s) and I are able to build a great connection with each other, which usually starts with their desires and goals.

- Getting to know you (the student) and start of with pieces you would like to play or songs you loved listening to
- Lesson plans with daily progress, leading up to monthly goals and recap all the skills you learnt from the first lesson
- Patience is key so don't worry about not mastering a particular exercise. Remember to have fun and not be hard on yourself because that creates demotivation in everything you do.
- Beginners, intermediates or advanced students welcome; Communicate with me (the teacher) often if there are any limitations or weaknesses that you (the student) might have so we can work on those skills and elevate them to the next level!
