About Maria
I'm a graduating BA student at TRU and am considering entering the education program. I'm looking for more experience helping both children and adults learn. I spent several years travelling as an ESL teacher abroad before university, and volunteered as an ESL tutor during my degree.
My degree major was in Geography, which means I'm versed in multiple academic disciplines. In addition to the courses related to my program that included history, economics, earth sciences, basic physical sciences, general humanities and social sciences, I also took initiative to use my elective credits for experience with business administration courses and courses on creative, academic and business communication writing.

I take an individualized approach to teaching because I believe everyone learns differently. Send me a message describing the specific challenges you or your child face(s) and I'll create an outline of how I would approach your case.
I'm interested in broadening my scope of experience. I'm informally tutored many classmates, both native and ESL speakers for exam prep and essay composition. I'm comfortable tutoring for assignments and exam prep at any education level for English, Humanities, Business Administration & Communication, Earth Sciences and Social Sciences. I can tutor children in any subjects up until grade 8 level, possibly higher.
I'm especially interested in tutoring children and teenagers with ADHD and Autism. I have a vast amount of personal experience with the issues in education associated with the two. Because I don't have a lot of experience formally tutoring in this regard I'd be more than willing to discuss a flexible financial arrangement based on need and how much I can contribute in the beginning. I will also wave my fee for the first three sessions.

I'm keeping my rates low for the moment until I build a reference list.
For children and teens with autism and/or ADHD, I'm offering the first three hours free of charge. After that we can also work out a flexible financial arrangement based on need and what I can offer.
