About LUCY
Although I have never been a professional teacher or held any formal teaching qualifications, I am very passionate about teaching. I enjoy seeing people become happy and satisfied after learning something new or achieving their goals.
My passion for teaching began through coaching basketball and volleyball, where I discovered how rewarding it is to help others improve and gain confidence. I also understand the challenges of learning a new language because I have experienced them myself while learning English. I know that the journey can be difficult, which is why I want to create a comfortable and supportive learning environment where students feel confident practising Japanese without being afraid of making mistakes. My goal is to help each student enjoy the learning process while making steady progress towards their personal goals.

My one-hour online lessons focus on building a strong foundation in Japanese through grammar and practical conversation. Rather than only memorising vocabulary and grammar rules, I encourage students to use Japanese in real-life situations to improve their confidence and communication skills. My lessons are ideal for beginner and intermediate learners, especially students who are planning to study abroad in Japan or want to prepare for everyday conversations.
At the end of each lesson, I ask students to make notes summarising what they have learned, which I review to ensure they understand the material and to reinforce their learning. If a student has specific goals, such as preparing for study abroad, improving conversational fluency, or strengthening grammar, we will discuss these goals together and create a personalised learning plan to help them achieve them. I have experience teaching private online Japanese lessons and hold an IB Bilingual Diploma in Japanese and English.
